Today is day 7 and the temp has been steady about 99.7... I came home from work today and it was almost 103!!! Ah!! Why would it do that!? I hope the babies are still ok. I opened the lid til it came down...nothing else I can do...
How soon would I know if they aren't? I just candled one and it looks normal...would there be a ring already? Would it be from the outside temps? It's been 40-50 since I started, today it was mid 70s but my inside temps only vary by maybe 2 deg...I can't check it while I am at work!
If they look okay now, maybe candle in a couple of days again just to be sure. I'm still learning about incubating too and I read that anything over 103 for more than 5 minutes can kill a fetus, but if you don't know how long the temp was up for, there's a possibility of them being just fine. I think chicks are tougher than we give them credit for sometimes. Good luck
