what's biting dog's ears?!

Without a picture hard to say... but most of the time flies will go for the outside of the ear... not opposed to nibbling the inside too. Best bet would be take the dog to the Vet. If it's outside all the time could be anything from an allergic reaction, to flies, to who knows what!

For a office visit and meds... better to be safe.

No, do not ever do this. Dogs do not have the body mass that horses do and the sprays are computed for a horse's body mass. Had a vet tell me that this could actually kill a susceptible dog because it is that much stronger than that same chemical would be if it was mixed at a strength intended for a dog.

I have tons of vet products up here...mostly for horses . You can use horse products on dogs....some may need an adjustment depending on what the label or vet sais . We've "bought" all of our animals from the vet my husband used to play softball with , she's always told me horse products are the same as dogs .

Back to the question that was origionally posted...... I would assume that it is what we call " no-seeums " . They are teeny tiny gnats that will leave pus pockets on a person . Very itchy ....it could also be fleas , mites , or horse/deer flys . Post a pick if you can . Our dog just had a fishing hook through his mouth.....thank god for leathermans ! If your horse/cow "medicine" doesn't give you specific doses for dogs.....water it down a little ( I don't even worry about it ) . Most of the over counter "horse meds" won't hurt a dog or cat . Sounds bad..but I had ring worm ( no idea how I got it ) and put blue coat on me for a couple weeks.......cleared up good , and had no side affects . I think people are just too worried about what "LIFE" is . Put some Betadine , or blue coat on it . If it doesn't improve in a couple days......take it in to see . JMHO .
