The way I figure it you have to eat some things that are bad for you; otherwise what will your immune system do all day?

I'm not a big fan of ketchup on meatloaf, so I re-trained my DH to like mushroom gravy covered meatloaf instead. Or try this. Whip up your mashed taters, when the meatloaf is done drain the fat and then "frost" the meatloaf with the taters. Add a few dabs of butter and brown under the broiler till the tips of the tater frosting are brown.

My kids are making chicken and rice soup.

We had two nearly picked clean chickens from the last couple of dinners, so the kids got to cook. Chicken soup with carrots, onions, green beans and parsley from the garden. Only the rice and salt and pepper came from the store.

The kids (five and seven) did everything except lifing the heavy pot to strain the stock!

We just finished eating broiled salmon with rice and asparagus. Surprisingly, it is the one meal that my picky four-year-old devours without prodding.
