Whats going on with my incubator?

So why didn't your friend let you borrow the new one, until these eggs hatch, or until you can get your own. IF you are considering getting one, I am hearing wonderful things about the Nurture Rite 360, and it's not overly priced for what it is.

Because he's currently got eggs in there that are in lockdown. I do plan on buying a brand new one eventually but at the moment I'd just like to get this one working.

You need a calibrated thermometer and hygrometer. Rely on those, not the digital readings on the incubator.

The temperature will fluctuate a little, that is normal. I wouldn’t do any adjustments until you have an accurate thermometer and hygrometer.

Is there any way i can keep it steady enough until i can get that? Will the fluctuation prevent the eggs from developing?

You don’t know if it’s really unsteady or not. The readings could be whacky, but everything could be fine. Throw a people thermometer inside if that’s all you can do for now. At least get an idea if you’re really dealing with fluctuations in temps.

Also, what incubator are you using? Is
It styrofoam?

Pretty sure Its just a generic one. Im not sure if its a specific brand. Its plastic inside Styrofoam.

The styrofoam incubator I had.. it had a piece of clear plastic attached to wires. It was set on top of the eggs to monitor temp. If you placed it underneath, or anywhere else, temps went crazy. Does yours have that?

Also, remove the red plugs, if you need to lower humidity. But again, I wouldn’t mess with anything too much until I acquired a thermometer and hygrometer.

No it doesn't have that. I just put a thermometer(for people) in there and it read 42°c!! so i lowered the temp to 35.5°c. I hope i dont cook them!!

I’d quit opening it at this point and let it settle in. If it’s running hot, causing it to kick on to heat back up isn’t going to help.

What kind of eggs are you incubating?

I haven't been opening it, just resetting the temp mainly. Im incubating chicken eggs.
