So today I decided to make chicken broth. My SO had processed 2 roos and I wanted to use the carcasses for something beneficial. I made up one batch with one carcass in the crockpot before going to work and came home to a very hungry SO. I asked him what he wanted for dinner and he asked what was in the crockpot. I told him chicken broth and he spent the rest of the night talking about chicken noodle soup. Heres the thing though...I HATE SOUP. I only like it when I am sick and can not taste anything. Therefore...I make soup. Soup is salty and is filling for about an hour...I'd rather just drink something. At any rate I saved what was left after to make him a disgusting soup that I would have no part of and prepared my broth to be canned.

Canned broth is good for a lot of things. We use it for rice and other things in the instant pot.

I have homemade spaghetti sauce in my crockpot

I use Chicken broth to slow cook dry beans. I am not a fan of soup either, passes through me fast, leaving me hungry an hour later. Today I used chicken broth in the slow cooker to turn chicken breasts into chicken taco meat. Turned out great. Chicken broth is good for cooking rice too.

What do you put in your soup? Chicken soup to me is rich and thick with vegetables (sauteed onions and celery, plus carrots, corn, and peas) and either noodles, rice or biscuit-like dumplings, and (except in the case of dumplings) often served with crackers. Around here, soup is a hearty meal!

Soup is like salad: its the thing you serve before the meal. Its the promise that real food is coming.
