I just purchased a bag of feed from our local storr opposed to going to town to TCS storr and noticed the local bag contents are extremely different.
So where do you buy your feed. What is the ingredients? What should i be looking in the ideal bag of layer feed?

This bag has the guarenteed analyis of

Crude protien - 10.0%
Crude fat - 2.4%
Crude fibre - 5.0%
Calcium 0.06%
Phosphorous 0.33%

Ingredients : cracked whole corn, whole wheat, whole barley & whole oats

It just doesnt look right to me. It is pure not in a pellet form

And what is the name that they should be eatting. I asked for chicken layer feed and the gentleman brought this out. :(
So is scratch like a treat? What is the purpose of scratch grain?

Scratch is used as a treat, and sprinkled on bedding, gets the birds to mix it up, which is a good thing. You can use it that way, or return it to the store with a complaint. Layer feed is labeled that way. Flock Raiser (Purina) or other all-flock feeds, are balanced feeds, and laying hens need oyster shell fed separately. Mary
