what's is this on my hen??

i have a black bantam cochin hen and i have found that there is stuff on her face she has it about 2 months and she is 7 months old

can you give us a better description or post a photo? it's hard to tell what you mean when you say there is something on her face. do they look like bug or mites?

she looks like she has mites. have you checked her legs? the same mites that can get around her face can also infest her legs. I would treat all your birds and their entire coop with sevin dust. repeat the treatment one week later

if this is anything like the mites I have seen they are actually living in the skin. on the legs they get under the scales. mites digest the skin and deposit waste in the skin surface, this leads to the dry-ish thickened flaky appearance reminiscent of mange on a dog.
