Whats natural in chickens

One "natural" remedy in the chicken world that concerns me is DE.

In my humble opinion, this stuff is dangerous to our health by breathing it in yet it's used as a dust bath for chickens

There is no magic bullet for good health, be it human or animal, but mostly just a good lifestyle, sensible health habits, and healthy eating that seem to win out over and over.

Two points I believe as well.

I was put onto DE by a breeder and she swears by it, so I researched it and found so many people were for it. As I researched it more though I looked at it differently, "Hang on, if I have to wear a mask to touch the stuff because it's so dangerous to breath in how my my chooks roll in it safely?" I pass on it now.

Beekissed, that is pretty much how myself and my family live. We are not hard core organic people. We don't hard ball our flock with 'get healthy or die'. I vaccinate my animals and my kids. We eat the best food we can source or afford, we live active lives and try keep a balance with pretty much everything. I will never pay $7 for 'organic free range eggs' but I won't buy cage eggs either. We try keep it as simple as practical.

I believe this keeps our family and flock in good health, we get sick less often, but when it is needed we action with what it takes to bring the illness under control.
