I have been noticing urine left on things before I let my dogs out to go potty. Once on a bag my son left outside on the deck and three other times close to the chickens run. Would a predator do that or could it just be a loose dog running around at night?

Could be either or both. There are lots of animals that use urine to mark a territory.

I'll also point out that a loose dog running around at night is a predator. :D Sometimes we forget that, but dogs are predators. So are cats. ;)

Welcome to BYC!! :frow

I had that happen too & wondered the same thing.
Then all within one week we found 3 neighborhood dogs (with collars) and then a feral cat freeranging after our ladies.
Lemme tell you we put up that fence we were talking about real quick!

Lol - that happens sometimes around here.

Some human urine goes in the same area, the same day I smell the other stuff.

Whatever it was, it moved on.

I got up very early one morning and saw a bobcat spraying the tree at the corner of our yard. You may never know unless you set up a game cam and watch the recap.

Definitely not forgotten, just was curious if wildcats, coyotes, foxs or something not domesticated had a habit of doing this.

OH YES they sure do! Plus crapping. I run across coon and fox scat that is fresh, nearly every day I go out to do chores. (And one VERY annoying day, the fox had jumped up onto the seat of the tractor to leave us this little "present".) And of course, domestic feral cats will spray to mark territory. Apparently this is a pretty wide spread behavior in the animal kingdom.

I agree that your best bet of finding out the culprit is a game camera. HOPEFULLY it's not a human neighbor... :lau
