Thank you for the helpful hints and tips. There's a lot going on here. I've done a few years of gardening forums so I'm familiar with the general format here, but you guys have SO MUCH INFO!

I'm really looking forward to starting a journal to share some of what goes on around here. Get to know some of you a bit more. I can already tell there's some like minded folks here (1 part serious, 3 parts nutty, and 7 parts curious).

So I had my first minor scare this morning. We have lots of raccoons around here and I know of at least one neighbor who has lost a bird to them. When I brought them out this morning the sun was just coming out, and I couldn't see the ducks well in the shadows. First thing I did see was a tennis ball size dark spot on the drake's breast. Freak out: engaged :eek: The poor guy has already survived an attack before I got him. Luckily in just a few steps he was in the light and exposed a big spot of poop... :ya
