What's so bad about broody hens?

Broody hens is like the flu here. Once one catches broody fever, 4 more catch the broody train too..... I need eggs, more than I need 7000 chicks running around. I have an incubator for that job!

With the weather warming up, if I have to put someone in the broody jail cage, I can give them an ice bottle, but it's harder to keep them cool. I have no rooster, so it wouldn't make sense to let her be broody, And, last time the one hen went broody, two of the others started to act weird, like my ducks did when they both went broody one right after the other. (of course I had a drake, so that wasn't a lost cause...)
