Can't say for sure when this appeared, but we noticed it for the first time this morning, and we are out with our flock 3-4 times a day. This is on a 3 year old "easter egger" and she seems to be healthy in every other way. If anyone can give us some insight, (what it is, how to treat it, how to prevent it)

we'd sure appreciate it.

I started another thread in the "emergencies, diseases, injuries, cures" section - thank you for that advice. It seems fairly soft to the touch and she did not show any discomfort when we did so. Not sure about moveable...i will check that when i get home tonight.

I'm glad you joined us.

I'm sorry to hear about your hen! I hope the Emergencies people can help you identify the lump. My first guess would be an ear infection of some sort.

I'm glad you joined our "flock!"

Sorry about your hen!

It looks to me like she has some sort of ear infection (which would need antibiotic treatment).

Hello there and welcome to BYC!!

That looks like her earlobe is swollen. She may have poked it and has an infection. I hope someone can help you in the emergency section.
