whats the best age to process a bird at?

because the house will be in foreclosure so I'm guessing 12 weeks until I'm forced out....I'd rather have eggs during that time than new chicks.

I tried to GIVE my roo away before I ate him, no one replied and I put an ad out for 2 weeks.

Your layers are more valuable to you to sell as a laying flock. Advertising a laying flock for sale is completely different than trying to unload a rooster. A ready-made laying flock is easy to sell, especially in the springtime. Try advertising them in the BSTG forum here and see if anyone would want to buy them. You could set up a sale that would allow you to keep them til the time you are ready to move. Good luck.

really? that would be great? I have no experience in that department though....what would be a fiar price for 6 hens?

Just starting to lay hens go for at least $8 each in my area, if they are healthy. Older hens go for less, depending on age and condition. I am sorry that you have to get rid of your hens. That really stinks.
