I was wondering what the best bedding for a winter in Wisconsin (It's COLD) would be for six, two month old chickens. It isn't freezing yet, but I want to be prepared. Any ideas/opinions?

I am sure some very experience people have some really good advice for that for you.

I tried something a lite different & it has been AMAZING & is super easy to get the wet or icky out without wasting a bunch of bedding in the process.

My girls really seem to love it.

But I use this in their NESTING BOXES ONLY.

Oh & I am sure it would greatly depend on how/where you have them set up, etc.

Best of luck

Thanks, we have a coop made by ourselves with our own run all from scratch, but will only have a max of 9 chicks by spring. We are getting one polish chick in spring, and I'm getting a nakid neck and unknown fluffy footed breed soon

I would recommend wood shaving or hay/straw. They both smell so nice and fresh for the first 5 minutes after you dump them in.

yes, we have pine shaving from our local feed mill currently, it is working good at the moment, the girls are happy.
