I got my first chicks last spring and am waiting for them to begin laying. I am having fun just watching them and figuring out their personalities! I also really enjoy the day to day of taking care of them.

My chickens are improving my health. For a while I had hardly been able to leave the house. I can get outside now. I like walking among them and watching them swirl around me as if I am one of them and don't matter at all. I like watching them peck and scratch when I scatter a little grain out for them. That's when I check their behavior, combs, feathers, bottoms and feet, just a quick visual check to make sure everyone is okay. I like gathering eggs, their magic little treasures. I like hearing them purr and growl and cluck and brag and complain and chatter at each other, and I like watching them interact. I like the eggs. I guess... I just like chickens. They're pretty nice people for the most part, and where I live, I don't have many other people to hang out with. I like chillin' with my chicks.

I just love to watch them, they are so beautiful and each one has a different personality. They always seem so enthusiastic to see me! I just love how they make my yard look so beautiful with their presence

Favorite thing has got to be chicken football, fling in a dead mouse, or really any treat they can carry but have to tear apart, and watch the battle ensue. A round hen that you can barely see daylight under when she's standing, instantly becomes a track star / gladiator.

We call it mouse rugby. I had a video posted on YouTube at one point
