I am wondering what is the best method of sanitizing a coop. I'm thinking whitewash like my father did with the milk house. Is there an easier way?

I have sick chickens! The coop is 2 years old. My leghorns are laying lash eggs and having vent prolapse. Lost 5 girls before I figured it out. And I have 2 silkies with wry neck/mareks not sure which. Ready to throw in the towel. Thought maybe sanitizing the coop might help in some way.
