All of the heritage turkeys would fit what your looking for. All heritage turkeys would sit on rocks if they thought they could hatch them. Some of them have a nicer plucked look and still have size to them. Light colors look the best if you leave the skin on. I don't like dry turkey so I do leave the skin on. The problem is people are not breeding for enough meat on the breast of some of the breeds. They are not even close to what the standards ask for. I don't think I have seen a taste test comparing the taste of different colors of heritage turkeys. All the taste test compare store bought turkeys. I have not noticed a taste difference between heritage breeds. Most people say BR since thats what has been in most taste test. They also have lots of meat. Why not get them all and try them for yourself. I noticed Porters is having a END OF SEASON SPECIAL" 15% OFF BREEDER'S CHOICE POULT ORDERS. Thats a pretty good deal.

The white heritage birds seem to be much smaller than the other ones. Good Beltsville whites would have more meat per pound if you can find them, but they are still small overall. However, if your viewing pleasure is more important than meat, Royal Palms are WOW LOOK AT THAT striking. I'm partial to the Narrangansett for a more natural looking bird. If you can order from Porter's, my absolute favorites are Golden Phoenix and Red Phoenix. I love the black-winged look with a touch of red.

I agree with Lagerdogger, Narr's have everything your looking for. They are great setters and make very good moms. They are attractive and mine have always been very people friendly.
