What's the deal with black copper maran eggs, the darker the better?

I don't understand why this makes a difference. If the egg is darker in color, does it produce a nicer looking chick, or does it taste better??? Please help me understand what the deal is with this. Thanks!

I think they breed for a darker egg just because the looks. I don't know much about marans but i hope someone can help. This probably belongs in the breeds, genetics and showing category but its ok lol

To me the dark eggs just look really pretty, especially when they are mixed in wth other colors of eggs. I like to put them with the olive eggs, blue, cream, white, tan. It is like a flower arrangement, just high protein and so much more you can do with them. Eat them, sell them, hatch them.
