What's the deal with small eggs?

We just got our hens this week. The first day we got a regular sized egg from one of them. The next day nothing.. then the last 2 days we've gotten these (sweet) little eggs. Any reason why? Is it because they're just starting to lay?

Pullets, which is what they are till one year old, usually lay smaller eggs. As they age they will get bigger, at least that has been my experience. Only exception being my Heritage Orp, who didn't lay till 38 weeks and it was a beautiful large egg. Occasionally I will get a really small egg, the size of a large quail egg, but those are few and far between

Good to know. I figured it was a learning curve of some sort. They're only 18-20 weeks... just young girls ;)
So they are just coming into point of lay, and you are getting pullet eggs :) which in time will get bigger as the birds mature.
