Ours, thanks to my daughter, is called "The Omelete Shack"!! We have one hen named: Mushroom, and the three were about to get are going to be named Veggie, Chilli, and Cheese.
My *future* coop will be roomy and still cozy, have a garden outside and lots of entertaining things in the run to play with, like a roosting corner made of sturdy branches and bales of hay to peck at and little pie tins. I don't think we'll be able to let them free range. (too many stray dogs)
I'll have to think of a name that reflects the playfulness of it.
DD came up with the name. and as they are getting their own vegetables planted I feel like a serf to them so why not let them have a kingdom of their own.
Then, 2 to 5 week old chicks stay in the DORM (a bigger brooder in my garage)
It's to COLLEGE GARDENS (a 10X10 dog kennel in the barn) until 10 weeks....
THEN, at 10 weeks, they get moved to The Colonel. It's the horse shed converted for layers (we havene't eaten any of our chickens, yet! Hubby plans to paint a mural of Colonel Sanders on it this summer.
