We're very new to this....no chickens yet, but we're planning on just 4 Plymouth Barred Rock hens. (But we did "chicken sit" a friend's black sex links for about 6 months in their portable tractor, and we loved them!)

DH is building the chicken "house" these days. It is a conversion (tedious) from an wild bird aviary I had when doing wildlife rehab...all hardware cloth and rotted wood frame, the latter is being replaced.New wood frame inside the hardware cloth...it's about 4' x8'.

Anyway, to name it, came about by accident. I mis heard something he said about barred rocks, and said: "what about hard rock?" And so it had to be "Barred Rock Cafe"...

We also have a 13 yr old Yorkie and a parrot: Black Headed Caique...(s)he lives in my studio with a grow light as well...we have not had the parrot sexed as we're not interested in breeding, but just a pet...and what a character it is!

We love our fur and feathered kids!

Our's is named "Cockerel Hill". Is is named after a part of Dallas where I used to work. It fits since it is on top of a hill in my pasture and I currently have 6 cockerels and only two pullets.

"Chez Poulette" is my coop. We started small "Clucker Condo" then the pole barn was built and now it's all I ever wanted. No roosters. Pictures later, not that good with a camera!

In the process of building it now while the eggs are still in the incubator.

Plan on calling it "Fowls Rush Inn"

Adding link to slideshow of progress so far
