Ok i just went to my barn and had one heck of a shock. In my flock of birds that are only 3 months old i found an egg in the nesting box. is this even possible.. Thank you

At twelve weeks? Hmmm...wow, that's really weird! Did you raise them from chicks? If so, did you misscount? If somebody gave them to you, they're probably older than they said.

Giving the benefit of the doubt, ie, some months are more than 28 days, so three months, December, January, February, You are at 13 weeks. If they were hatched in November, they could be as much as 15 weeks.

Bottom line? Yes, it is possible. Golden Comet, no doubt. I've had similar strains, the ISA Brown, reach POL at 16 weeks So, yes, if they are 15 weeks or older, it is quite possible.
Especially if your feed was high protein throughout.

Wow...I want hatching eggs from your chickens...pass on that early maturing gene

When I first got into chickens I ordered 15 w.o. started Red Star pullets from a hatchery - one of them had laid an egg in the shipping box and they've been great layers ever since (it's been about 2 years now).
