What's this blob?

This chick just hatched and came out with a blob of red blood/tissue type of something about an inch long. There was also some slimy yellow goop that I figured was the last of the yolk. But this blob looks contained like it was growing or something. Very weird.

I reposted this in the section for emergencies, to see if I should be concerned. The blob has shrunk now as the fluids drained out, but is till attached. It would be interesting to know if others have seen this happen before and what they did.
 
I’d suspect an umbilical hernia/unabsorbed yolk sac. The chick may be fine, may develop peritonitis and die, or it may have other issues as well and either die or need to be culled. It is a fairly common congenital defect in most species, just part of birth!
