What's this doodle bug looking thing in my egg?

Seriously, this grossed me out.

I cracked a fresh and otherwise beautiful egg (blue easter-egger). The yolk and albumen were perfect, but there was this other foreign body that looked like an unborn doodle bug.

Any ideas what it is?

Any ideas where it came from?

I took pictures of it from all angles and then cut it in half. It is totally unrecognizable to me.

Gross, and thank you.

That is a meat spot. It is harmless and can be eaten. Some hens just make them in their eggs, and not every time. Chickens who are genetically predisposed to make these are generally culled from commercial production strains, but you see it a fair bit in backyard birds. Commercially, they use white light and computer scanning to not pass these eggs on to consumers in the grocery store. Probably use them for something else.

You can fish the meat spots out and eat the rest of the egg just fine, or ignore it and add lots of stuff to your scrambled eggs so you don't notice it when you eat it. Can't really get rid of these permanently without getting rid of the chicken.
