What's this?!

My Brahma just laid this right before bedtime. The little thing came out first, then she laid the egg that looked normal, but didn't harden. What's this little thing and why did she do this?

First thought is lash egg... did the shell harden up? or is it still soft?..or no shell at all? I believe there is some sort of infection either way.

The shell didn't harden. It got firmer than when she first laid it, but it never hardened into an actual shell. More like a water balloon with a thick dry outer layer.

She lays eggs frequently. This is the first I've seen like this. And the first time I've found that alien like thing next to an egg in the coop.

I get some strange things from my ducks and chickens every once in a big while. Mainly my white layer will lay something like this and it is sometimes attached to the normal egg. She is a few years old and I haven’t had any issues. I just figure that sometime they lay an off “egg”.

yup when you wasnt looking the space ship came and they beamed her up and emplanted a baby alien inside her lol... looks like a malformed egg or maybe a parasite she passed . I have seen all kinds of weird things come from my poultry over the last 30 years has she been wormed lately ?

I haven't used any of the commercial wormers. I do use diatomaceous earth, apple cider vinegar, probiotics.

The small curly thing that she passed seemed to have a flaky shell... and the inside looked and felt like a shrimp.
