I have heard people get really passionate about having chickens! Have no chickens yet, just doing research so I can start in the spring. Will be flying directly in the face of my HOA but since CoVid is changing everything I don't really care any more. Time to get real. After ordering solar panels the "going green" bug bit. I want to do everything I can to reduce my carbon footprint, and become more in tune with the earth. I have resolved to use less plastic and have less food waste. I have a small back yard so not looking to get more than 4 chickens to start. Am well aware that this could be more of an expensive hobby than anything else, but am hoping to use the poop and coop substrate to make compost for my fruit trees and veggie gardens. I am in San Antonio, Texas so any advice on how to keep chickens specifically in hot climates would be most welcome.
