We have a duck that isn't doing too well.

On and off for the last few weeks it's been limping and struggling to keep up with the rest of the flock. Just as we start to worry it seems to recover, but then it happens again. It spends a lot of time lying down, and it also has a hunch (but we might be imagining that). It doesn't seem unhappy and eats and drinks as much as the others, and is putting on weight at the same rate too.

Does anyone have any ideas? We were thinking that as long as he seems happy, we should just leave him, but is that wise? None of the others do this.

Oh, ten week old Khaki Campbell, btw.

Thanks

Maybe he has Bumblefoot/ check the bottoms for sores. I had one who was limping a while back, well she's a goose, and after eliminating all possibilities I decided the dog got her when she was trying to nip at it through the fence. She had some puncture wounds in her beak, that was the tip off.

Anyway, she sat in the house in a crate for a few days and that drove her crazy, then I put her in a pen with some ducks and that drove her crazy. Finally I just let her out and she limped all over the place for like 2 more weeks before she finally healed. She slept a lot, but ate fine. She did lose some weight and even now she is the smallest of the 4.

She is also the most tame, she loves me! I think it was the extra attention she got that week.

Give him a little more time if there is no sore, maybe he twisted it somehow and it will heal. Wish I could be of more help.
