okay, I'm new to this.. we just got 4 hens 1-2 years old, we got 2 eggs the first day 2 eggs the secound day and 0 eggs the past 2 days.
Is it normal for them to go a couple days with out laying? any advice for a novice?
thanks!

Hens brought into new surroundings sometimes don't lay well til they get use to where they are and new nesting boxes. It's normal for hens to lay and then have a day off from laying usually so many days laying and one or two days off. Patience for them to get use a new place. Also the weather sometimes comes into play, too hot or too cold.

You could have just been lucky they had eggs coming down their pipes!

They may be slowing due to age with the ones pushing 2 years old. They could be stressed too. Make sure they are getting a good layer pellet.

when we bought are first four girls from a guy in a town near by, we got eggs the first 2 days, then they took a 3 week hiatis. so just some advice, make them feel welcome and comfy and safe. it could take days or weeks for them to start laying again. good luck and congrats on the new girls!

My Welsummer went broody a few weeks back and hasn't laid since. I think she's done with that because she actually comes out of the run with the others but my Ameracuana hasn't laid in a few months. She appears healthy and eats and everything just like she did last summer but no eggs.
I don't think she's molting either.

They're all about a year old.
