What's up with this barred bantam cochin? pics

Call the breeder and see if they are working on cuckoo Silkies. I bet that is where the egg came from.

I am betting the same Adam. Looks like a frizzled cuckoo silkie to me too (a mix of course). But not an expert by any means. I have heard of some hatcheries accidentally sending out their personal stash of eggs, that may be what happened here. Keep us updated on what you find out.

Doesn't look like it has any other silkie traits so my guess is that it might be a random mutation in the little guy that gives it silkie feathering without a silkie as a breed parent.

It is not a mixed breed and is not mixed with a Silkie. I have seen several of these birds aorund lately, and mostly in Barred. It is a Silkie Feathered Cochin. Barred in color, a very cool bird! If you decided to sale, can I have first dibs?

Now that you mention it, I have heard someone mention a silky cochin. I bet that is what it is. Cool.
