I have a fairly new chicken. We have had her for 3 weeks and she is young. Less than one year and I believe a RIR. She lays everyday now but some times her eggs come out like this. She seems lealthy, eats well, very active. They are provided oystershell, and lay feed. I also give them yogurt and veggie treats.
Coulc she be sick or is it because she is new to this?

Very interesting looking egg. I do not now what causes it, but it is interesting. I just collected my eggs and found a really tiny egg, not much bigger than a dime. I am going to post that question also.

She's practicing for Easter! Cool egg.

It's probably just something with her egg-laying equipment. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. Is the egg hard all the way around, or is the shell thinner in the lighter area? I've had a few like this, and the shell was always thinner through the lighter part of the egg.

It may become regulated as she matures, or it may not. If she's healthy otherwise, I wouldn't worry. You might want to check this website, though:
