Do today I was thinking I would maybe find an egg in the nesting box. well I did. A full size chicken egg at that. now the thing is, I believe I only have 2 hens laying and this makes the 5th egg in 6 days. My birds are very young still and did not expect an egg this big for some time. it looked really god except this on the sharp end. what causes that? there was actualy a crumbley looking piece of shell that I easily picked of right where the papery liner is exposed. so what's up? is it cause they are still young and getting going? or do I need to change the diet? they get beaver 16% layer, 6 grain scratch and free range about 4 hours a day, more on weekends. And free choice oyster shell. Any input would be great. Im new to this.
