What's with the Polish's hair?

Are those feathers? They look strange.

I just ordered a golden laced Polish hen today and I was wondering if all of these Polish chickens look like this.

That's a polish rooster, and their feathers are much pointier than the hens. The hens have a rounder poof.

I don't get it. What does a hen look like exactly? Images?

Are these even feathers, or is that hair? PS: The hens looks like clowns. I may need to cut some hair off of it, it's creepy.

Why are they so furry? I've never seen feathers like that.

They crow around a globe like skull. Like a sea urchin. The feathers of males are thin and long so they flow like hair, but the females have shorted wider feathers making them more rigid forming the "afro".
