What's with your user name? And what about that avatar?

I'm glad I'm traditionalist for names and I think my daughters are too.

Me too. The only criteria for my kids was that I wanted them to have a name that could lead to a nick name. My given name has no chance for a nickname really. My son actually goes by his nickname now that he is grown. My daughter only wants to use her given name. Fine either way

My oldest hated the long version of her name as a kid; now that's all she goes by. My middle daughter has only ever used the long version and my youngest is fine with either. :) Mine were all named after people and one of my criteria was a name that couldn't be turned into a name to make fun of them.

So many people don't think of that at all. Kids can be cruel. Give them a good name & it'll make their lives easier. That's my theory. So far my step daughters have not listened to me on that theory. Of course they don't listen to me period

. They'll live and learn. And their poor children.....well maybe they will be tougher. Lets hope so.

Ken and I have must have had more influence in our kids' lives than we realized until they were grown and had kids of their own. Our son ignored his due date and came in his own sweet time, so the little guy who should have been a Steven ended up being Kenneth Lee, since he was born hours before Ken's birthday and on his aunt Lee's. His youngest daughter's name is Kendra. Our middle daughter had a son, James Kenneth, and a daughter, Little Diane. I'm Big Diane. We ended up raising Little Diane and Jamie. Jamie and his wife had a son so our great-grandson's name is Landyn Kenneth. That's 5 named Kenneth - 4 generations worth - and 2 Dianes. Pretty cool!
