whats wrong with these sentinces:

I own 5 chickens on a huge farm. a bantam standard cross rooster, a sumatra rooster, a GLW hen, a Light brahma hen, and a EE hen.



Awnser(s): 5 chickens; huge farm
2 roosters and 3 hens
is in need of 25 more chickens!

I NEED MORE CHICKENS!!! but my mom won't let me. what should i say to get her on my side?

more chickens = more eggs = scramble the eggs = free feed.

Chickens are great at tilling soil, pest control, fertilization of soil, and provide yummy eggs.

Extra roosters make nice dinners too.....um only use if you have no problem processing them.

Stress the pest control aspect of chickens. That is what has sold most of the people I have converted. Nobody likes bugs.

I'm not taking sides I'm just wondering if you have a coop big enough for 25 more. You need a safe & big coop for that many birds. Having alot of birds is great but you still have to provide for them. I have 30 chickens but I have them in a 330 sq ft. coop & inside the coop I have a 5 gallon water-er plus a one gallon water-er & two big feeders that hold 100 lb's of feed. Even having all this I'm still filling the water-er's almost daily. Its good practice to provide clean water at all times. Thirty chickens will drink alot of water so keep this in mind. Here's my coop that holds 30 chickens.

Seriously you only NEED 17 more hens for a 10/1 ratio...

Would you be willing to get rid of one of your roos... then you would only NEED 7 more hens... she might see how serious you are if you are willing to give up something to get something.

How many would she be willing to let you have?

Also... are you doing a GREAT job taking care of the birds you have? Make sure you are!

... and ABSOLUTELY NO WHINING (and I'm sure you aren't).

Not disagreeing but the absence of mosquitoes is do to no rain this year.

Yep, be mature and responsible. Present a good plan, even if it means rehoming a rooster. Have a schedule of care written down. Also list how you plan to pay for feed, any medications, etc. Do you have enough space already or will Mom have to foot the bill for coop/run improvements?

Now.... if you get more chickens, keep in mind that unless you have great family/neighbors, you will never be able to go on vacation. 24/7/365 is what chickens require.

No whining definitely. And no asking anyone else to do your chores when you don't want to. No fussing when you get soaking wet and frozen tending them in the middle of January.

And what on earth is a "bantam standard cross rooster"?
