Ok my turkey who I just found out is a hen is acting odd she goes from standing to siting then runs around then goes back to sitting? She eating and drinking normally. She not dust bathing while she does this I am so confused she looks uncomfortable. No sneezing no runny nose and the other two hens are acting normal. What is the deal?

She will be a year this march/April she never had this issue before. When she does this I can pet her normally they like to peck at me and follow me but not really in to being petted. Oh and I know for a fact that my area does not have black head so I am confused. The only thing I can think of is she starting to lay eggs and is freaked out about the sensation she only done this since Tuesday... But most of the day she active its only once a day thing.

Your turkey is "squatting" - she would like to breed. Without a tom around, she'll be somewhat confused and frustrated, but it's fine. You should have eggs pretty soon (my girls get interested in mating about a month before they start laying). You may also notice her scouting and arranging nest spots (usually a secluded or hidden area) for a few days before the first egg.

Barbara Kingsolver talks about this behavior in Animal Vegetable Miracle. Her turkey was doing this so she put it in the barn thinking it was sick... Turkey perked up. Eventually it became apparent that the turkey had the hots for Barbara's husband. Lol. Do you have a tom turkey for her?

She was suppose to be my tom actually I trying to find one at a decent price alot of the people near me want 50+ for a tom some are asking 75-100 the lowest so far is 50 I bought two hens for sixty so I don't see how a tom would be worth fifty of the same breed
