Sorry you are incorrect. EE's, Ameraucanas, and Araucanas are three separate breeds. Only two are recognized by the APA, the Ameraucana and Araucana. EE's are basically mixes, may or may not lay a blue or green egg and may or may not have a beard and muffs. EE's are VERY commonly sold as Americanas- just to confuse everyone further.

I thought that an Easter Egger is defined as a chicken that lays blue or green eggs. They can be Ameraucanas or Araucanas (yes I know the difference). Its super hard to find a pure bred Araucana. Hatcheries just call them Araucanas but if they have fuzzy cheeks and tail feathers, they are an Ameraucana. If it is an Araucana then it is rumpless and has feathers sticking out of its face. It's very interesting because if you look at the breed index on here, the website defines EE's, Ameraucanas, and Araucanas separately.
Easter Eggers are mutts. Mutts that lay blue or green eggs.
Ameraucanas and Araucanas ARE separate from each other and Easter Eggers. This website, the APA, The Araucana club, and the Ameraucana Breeder's Club as well as all Ameraucana and Araucana breeders, myself included, will tell you that.
Ameraucanas are pretty rare, not as rare as Araucanas, that is true, but they're not Easter Eggers. They're their own breed.
