What's wrong with her eye?

I couldn't decide between the Colloidal Silver drops or the Tylan! I'm going to have to get some of that now. Chronic--I hope that doesn't mean they'll have it for their entire lives. Thank you, Eggcessive.

Wow, that article is scary. Just read it. So looks like they may have it for life. I didn't realize just how serious this might be. I sure hope I don't lose them! I have them separated from the rest of the flock, but now I don't know if I can have them together ever again.

How long have you had them? The incubation time for MG after being exposed is only days. They may have been exposed by your own flock, or the breeder’s flock if you have only had them for a week or two. You can also get them tested through your local extention agent. MG is very common, and can be passed by wild birds. Many bring it into their flocks by adding new birds from other flocks. It also might just be pecking at eyes causing the eye crusts and drainage. Check out all possibilities.

I've had them for about two months. My own flock has no symptoms, but I know it's possible they could be carriers. I have seen a wild bird or two in the run, eating their feed. The wire is 1.5 inches across at the top. So that is the only thing I can think of, other than my other birds, as far as them being exposed. They are now shaking their heads, and the one that is the worse is also scratching at her face. I wonder how much it would cost to have them tested?

Thank you, Egg. I'm almost afraid to know, to be truthful. I received the Colloidol Silver drops today! Super fast shipping. Anyway, flushed their eyes with the sterile drops then used the Silver drops, and it's true--they look better already, after only two treatments! Their eyes are wide open now, and although it's still red around them, I expect that for at least a few more days. They are still shaking their heads, but not scratching at their eyes. They are looking good. I hope it's just a simple virus that I caught early.
