He is still a little unsteady on his feet but he was preening himself today. It is truly a miracle.

Thanks everyone for your support. So far he does seem to be getting better. He is still a little unsteady on his feet and his voice isn't right yet (he squeaks). Hopefully he will make a full recovery. Still don't know what was wrong but at least he is improving. I really thought he wasn't going to make it and I dug a hole to bury him when he expired. I never expected him to make such a remarkable recovery even though he isn't back to normal yet. My motto "keep faith".

That is fantastic! I haven't seen Poly-Vi-Sol at any of my feed stores. What is that? If that was what helped turn your little roo aound, I may need to keep some on hand! I have found that VetRx is something that I absolutely WILL NOT have with me at all times! It is a fantastic multi-tasking medicine!

Poly-Vi-Sol (without iron) is infant vitamins but many people I know use it on chicks that aren't doing to well. You can find it in the infant vitamin section of any pharmacy. I will have to look for the VetRx. It is almost unbelievable how much he has recovered. I really thought he was on deaths door. I dug a hole to bury him.

Thank you for the information! I had no idea! I will look for that next time I go shopping. The VetRx is wonderful! I had done some work in the coup and moved things around and dug up dirt and stirred up dust...a couple of days later, a couple of my hens started getting goopy eyes, noses and sneezing. Before I could blink, all of them were that way and the little boys next door were too! The VetRx has so many uses, but in this case, I put a couple of drops in their mouth, a drop in each nostril, a few drops on top of their heads under their feather and rubbed it in, and under their wings and rubbed it in. It has a nice menthol (of some kind, I can't remember what off the top of my head) so when they sleep and tuck their heads they breathe that all night. You can also put some in their water. Just a few drops is all it takes because it is oily so it floats and when they get a drink, they get it in their nostrils again. You can also use it on their combs and legs to help condition them. And for show birds it gives instructions on how to mix it with their feed, let it sit for a set amount of time, and then feed the mixture to them. It also has instructions on how to use it for eye worms! Every single one of my chickens came through and some of them were really sounding terrible! A couple of them were so bad that I brought them in the house in a pet taxi to treat them. It was really cold out and these were my Silkies. I had to give them some advantage besides a heat lamp! That experience made a believer out of me! I always keep VetRx on hand now! Beware though!! Some stores also sell VetRx for Goats/Livestock and charge more!! Don't fall for that unless the bottle is bigger, of course! I bought some but once I got home and took it out of the box, not only was the bottle identical, but the item number was the same as well! The store made it right...they didn't know...but someone was trying to get away with it!
