One of my chickens is free-range. Untill now she has been happy and healthy, but the past few days she hasn't been acting the same. Usually she is very active, but now she just sits in one place and doesn't move a lot even when I come very close to her. She looks like she is sleeping. I can't see anything that looks physically wrong with her but i'm definately not an expert. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with her? Thanks in advance for your help

It could be a number of things. Can you tell us a bit more? How old is she? Is she eating and drinking? What does her poop look like?

I'm not sure how old she is because she was given to us as a bonus with a flock we took in. As far as I can tell she is eating and drinking normally, and her poop looks normal also. I went out today and found her stash of eggs( she keeps changing where she lays) but they had all been eaten. I don't think she ate them but she might have. Do you think that has anything to do with it?

I had a hen acting the same way. I asked for advice at the feed store. They recommended isolating her and giving her sulmet in her water.
She perked up in a couple of days and was like a new chicken! Do not eat any eggs she may lay while on the sulmet. Don't know if this will work with your hen but it's worth a try.

I lost two Rhode Island Reds from my flock over the winter that displayed similar symptoms. With the first we thought she may be egg bound and took steps in that direction even though palpatation did not reveal the expected results. The second bird we isolated immediately. Both died within three days of the onset of symptoms which included lethargy and fluffing their feathers like they were cold. The last twenty fours hours they refused food and water.

I think she is broody even though she lost her eggs. You can try to break her up or you can give her a safe place to brood and some fertilized eggs :)
