What's wrong with my CL? Laying?

Sitting very still in the nesting box now going on 10 minutes.....my first chickens so Im very excited

Ok she just got off the nest, she was in there for 40 minutes but she is clucking softly no egg song but Im going to check....

No egg but she made herself a nice nest. Now she is drinking water non-stop, like going on 8 minutes of drinking water....this is exactly why you shouldnt sit and wait and watch. "a watched pot" I need to chill and just let the chicken do what the chickens do.

Yeah, but it's hard not to sit and watch, especially for your very first egg ever.
Squuueeee!!
Go for it, unless it totally stresses you out.
You'll learn a lot by watching, and it will enure the birds to your presence while laying-which I think is a good thing.

She's been in the nest box most of today and yesterday. She goes in for 30 minutes or so then comes out for a little while. So about 20 minutes ago I go out to scoop the poop from the trays and give the girls a treat and I nearly step on the most perfect egg....but she laid it on the dirt floor of the run! Silly girl, after all that time in the nest it surprised her and she laid it in the run. I'm so happy I didn't step on it. It's small and a nice blue-ish color. But I'm happy it was small to start as her vent seems uninjured. She also has blue-ish white earlobes. Is that normal? I don't know if you can see in the photo she is back to normal and it's hard to get a picture of her. I predict my welsummer will be next by behavior, red comb and wattles and moist vent. Thanks for all the help all!

She was 20 weeks 4 days when she laid for the first time.

Mine is 18 weeks and doesn't look anywhere near ready compared to yours! I'm jealous.
