What's wrong with my peacocks??

I've recently noticed that several of the droppings in my peacocks' pen are watery and milky white in color. If fact, they look like watered down skim milk. Are my birds getting sick? Are they missing something in their diet?

We've had an extraordinary amount of snow this year. Still have some on the ground in most places. My birds free range in the day and go up in pens at night. We supplement their natural food with gamebird feed and some scratch feed. I occasionally give them boiled egg yolks and sometimes some fruit.

I tried to find the link to the "poop" website, but wasn't successful.

Is this normal for this time of year? I don't remember ever seeing it before. Have had a peahen for three years and a peacock for two years, but this was our first year for babies. They are now 7 months old.

I'll appreciate any help anyone can give me. I don't want to let my "babies" get sick.

Hope y'all have a GREAT DAY!!

I dont know about the poo>>> but I would give them more protean..When I need to know something I googled peafowl medications and got some help..Hope all is well with him..

No, no mucous or feces in the poops. I'm going to check out the websites now. Thanks for the links. Hope they can help.

My birds seem fine. They free range all day and go up in their pen at night. I am going to worm them, just in case. I'm looking for some worminator, but may have to settle for something else.

My Safeguard is a paste in a tube. Is that the same kind of Safeguard people put in water?? I believe someone said 3 cc's per gallon. Is that correct?? Maybe I'll just use the Safeguard for now.

Thanks for all the help!!

Thanks for that info. I'll go to TSC tomorrow and see what I can do. Sure hope this helps.

From what I read in the links, these may be normal droppings. My birds have been under stress. We've had a lot of snow and they don't like snow. But they've eaten a lot of snow, so, based on what I read in the links, these droppings MAY be normal. I'm still going to worm them just in case. I'll post again if I find out anything different.

I doubt you need to worm them. It sounds like they are not eating enough and worming can actually makes things worse. Supplement their diet with a decent wild bird seed that has millet and nuts and also provide them with plent inexpensive cat food to increase their fat intake. Peafowl are obligatory predators in nature and our cold climate winters coiincide with the period in time that they would be eating lots of bugs and small animals loaded in fat and protein.
