Hi, so I have a young hen called Olivia. She was not doing so good a few days ago but then she perked up. This was her poo this morning. It was green bubbly and nearly had the consistency of an egg white

Could be something bad she ate. Could be a broken up egg that she's expelling. Does she have any other symptoms? Is she active? Does she stay in one place listless or does she run around scratching? Any liquid coming from her nostrils or eyes? Any rasping in her breathing? What are you feeding her?

Such poo from time to time without any other symptoms can be ignored. If there are other symptoms or she keeps expelling the same stuff repeatedly then we have a problem.

How old is she?

Can you post a photo of her?

"Not doing well" is quite vague - what are the symptoms - lethargy, puffing up, isolating, not eating/drinking...

What do you feed, including treats?

Work on hydration, give electrolytes if possible.

If she's young, then consider treating for Coccidiosis.

Look for lice/mites and check to see if her crop is emptying.

Sorry, I didn't go into detail I was really rushed this morning. She's a year old, when she was sick her comb went a bit pale and she was puffed up. She was drinking water when I came home, I don't know how much during the day. There's no mucus around her nose.

When was her last egg?

Her crop appears to be quite full. I'd check that first thing in the morning before she's had anything to eat/drink to see that it's emptied.

If it's not emptying, then address that Symptom according to the article below.

I'll have to check tomorrow morning as I didn't this morning. I think she still lays as I get a good few white eggs and only some of them lay white eggs. I will be getting coconut oil today.

Thanks so much for your help. I'm trying to just narrow it down to 1 thread and then others might benefit from it in the future.
