What's your favorite chicken breed and why?

Light Brahmas, they are so tame and peaceful and good layers
Black Australorps, good cold hardy breed and good layers
Buff Orpingtons, good girls, good brown eggs
I got two Speckled Sussex a few days ago, we'll see how they do later this year.
I also got two Easter Eggers, we'll see.
I had Auruaconas before and they were sweet girls too.

Production reds and Rhode Island Reds I've actually never had. I should probably get some tho because we are very low on eggs

Rhode isands are good for egg,but usually are very burd aggressive.

That's my problem! I love the more ridiculous looking ones (frizzles, silkies, polish) but they are often not the best producers

Welsummers are my favorites for egg production. Great looking chickens and I love the steady supply of those large terra cotta colored eggs.

Silkies with their crazy looks and calm and friendly temperment are my favorite yard ornaments. They draw more attention than any other breed we have. Most of ours allow themselves be petted and picked up. Being great broodies and mothers is a big plus also.
