What's your stance on storing eggs?

Mine go in the fridge. The few times one does have a spot of poo on it, I leave it there and wash it off just before I use it. Or just before I sell them. They keep for so long in the fridge, I see no reason to leave them out. Heck, my kitchen is so full of stuff there's no room to do that anyway!

I only have four hens. I leave the eggs in a basket on the counter. They just don't last that long. When I have an extra dozen I put the newest ones in a carton and give them away. I have one hen that sometimes won't wait her turn for a nesting box and lays in the run. If it looks disgusting, then I wash it off, hard boil it and feed it back to them smashed up, shell and all.

Same here, my counter is too cluttered as it is! But if I've just brought them in, sometimes they'll sit on the counter a few hours until I get around to washing them and putting them in the fridge.

I have a weekly rotation going on:

Beginning on Sunday the eggs for the week stay on the counter in a basket for personal use.
Earlier that same Sunday morning I take what we haven't used for the prior week and box them up for the refrigerator or to give/sell.
We usually have 4 dozen left over.

Anything dirty gets washed and hard boiled either for: people;dogs;chickens

I only have 15 chickens.
