wheat grass (cat grass) for chickens

Hi Guys,
I bought a couple of these little tubs of cat grass, add the wheat seeds and long grass was there in under a week. My cats are not touching it....I know they are odd. But I was thinking of using a bigger container and growing it for my chickens so they'll have fresh grass to munch on in the winter.
I think it would be nutritious.
Any ideas on why to or not to?

They looove to eat the wheat, I'm sure it's just fine.

I have a small patch of wheat grass growing in my garden right now and I cut off handfuls to bring to my three chickens. They absolutely love it.
