I was at the local feed store today, and they had 25 pound sacks of "feed quality" wheat for about 12 bux, and 25 pound sacks of "certified" wheat for $15.

What is the difference?

And, is wheat a good thing to feed my chooks?

If so, is "feed quality" sufficient for them, or would it be better to spring the extra bux for "certified" wheat?

Good question.... I know some people feed sprouted wheat but I am not sure what the differences are. I will be interested in hearing the comments....

Are you sure the certified wheat wasn't for planting? One of the crops we raise is wheat and "certified" wheat (at least aroud here) is used for seed, not feed. The feed grade would be just that....used for feed.
