Wheat under water

I know ducks love and also need wheat in their diets, I've read several things on leaving wheat under water in a container as it helps clean their bill as well.

My question is how long is the wheat good under water?

Does it go mouldy after a day and I need to change it and throw old stuff out or is wheat fine for several days? Just want to make sure I don't get any of our flock sick should I start putting it under water rather than dry. Thanks!

You could soak it overnight, drain it, and let it sprout. Birds love all kinds of sprouted seeds, and its better for them nutritionally.
There are several good articles on sprouting here on byc. I sprout wheat for mine, about a large coffee can at a time as treats for them. It's pretty tasty, I'm bad about sneaking a bowl of sprouts and eating them for breakfast. They're magically delicious! :gig:lau
