Hi there, I've read that ducks need wheat? Is this whole grain? I also have hens so it advised soaking it in a bucket so the hens can't get at it? I leave oyster grit out for the hens is this ok for the ducks? Thanks :)

I feed my not laying ducks a complete wheat diet and also they free range during the day but once they start to lay I'll give an option between laying duck pellets and the wheat also oyster shell is fine for ducks that are laying it gives calcium to insure a strong shell

I expect ducks can manage without wheat if their nutritional needs are met with other foods. There's amaranth, quinoa, flax, oats, and millet - all with different important nutrients.

My ducks enjoy whole wheat seeds in a small bucket of water, yes. Don't know about chickens. They might not stick their heads in three inches of water to eat the wheat. Clever idea.

Crushed oyster shell free choice is a good idea for ducks, too.
