Does anyone have pictures of wheaten marans and information about them? Like their disposition, egg production, weather tolerance. Anything at all really. I have taken an interest

in them possibly and would love more info. I can't find a lot of pictures. Thanks.

I bought two batches of quality Wheaten marans eggs last summer. I chose the french (feathered leg) and ended up with several roosters and 3 living hens. It is my hope that I can breed for more this spring.
On the right, you can see one of the females:

The males are beautiful. Here's one of the boys who suffered frostbite this winter:

The males appear the same as my BCM except their bottom fluff is not black.

Male black copper marans will have a crow wing (black secondary flight feathers) black in the wing bay- wheaten males should have a gold duckwing (red in the secondary light feathers) a red wing bay. Shanks of a wheaten bird should be white while shanks on the black copper marans should be a slate color.

I like mine alot. They lay nice dark eggs that are large. They're not as friendly as some of my breeds, but they aren't flighty at all. I have had some frostbite issues with the roos combs. When they're laying they lay well, but they take a longer break in the winter than some of my others. Here's some pictures. The roo was molting in some of these pictures so he wasn't looking his best.

Do these not slightly look like white/golden sex links? I've only seen one picture of these sex links so I don't know if they really do or if it was just a fluke. Is there only the French (feathered legs) that you can get?
