Wheaton Ameraucana Cockerel? How can you tell? Teach me!

They were about a month old in those pics...they're closer to 2.5 months now, but I don't have a recent pic. I could try to go get one...

Nope...lol. But I've never had this breed before & they don't have normal combs that grow like crazy like other breeds.

Please tell us how you know this is a cockerel. KellyHM has a 2.5 month old Am. and she doesn't know either.
Is it the color??

Kelly, definately a cockerel. Has the lighter colored one stayed about the same color or is there lots of blue now?

Just take a picture of that one, no need on the one with all the black, it is definately a cockerel.

Thats why I like colors like that because as soon as they feather in alittle you can tell the sex. Colors like wheaton, black breasted red, silver, any duckwing pattern, crele, partridge, pencilled, all those type of colors the males breast will feather in similar to what it will look like when he gets older.

She's still the same colors...the same amount or maybe less black/blue.​

If I don't get a roo out of the two I just hatched, I'd be willing to take that roo off your hands or make a trade if you don't want it!

Would you be interested in any of my other boys? I have a faverolle, and 3 extra GC Marans roos. All from Melissa. Did you have any of your fav. eggs hatch? We got this one by mistake. Apparently, she has a fav. that lays a dark egg and she put it in by mistake as a Marans egg. Surprise! Again, would have loved to have a pullet.

ETA - If we do decide to get rid of him, you will be the first to know. I would love to sell my roosters, but when I look at Craigslist, I see some suspicious folks looking for roosters. Want them to go to real chicken people.
